I went out to water the garden and decided to walk around the yard and evaluate the landscape, or what there was of it....
When we moved in, we had some pretty greenery in the front. I think the girl that lived here first really liked purple because most of the plants had purple in them!
Not sure if this is Hostas or the caladiums we had last year, but it's coming!!
I also had a couple of Hydrangea plants. I loved them! Always wanted them, but I don't think they did that great in Florida.... It broke my heart to see the bushes die out in the winter....
But as I was watering today, I saw these tiny little buds!!! So exciting!!
I am looking forward to getting some new plants, probably get some bulbs so they can come back again next year too!

Garden
One of the things Fred and I said we wanted when we moved to Texas was a garden. We moved into our house in May, so we spent last year getting the inside of the house done. Now that Spring is around the corner (we hope!) we started to work on the garden. Now, we have never done one before and I have to admit I felt overwhelmed. Fred is such a good guy though and once he decides we're doing it, he goes full force! I just followed.... haha
I got a little strawberry plant to see if it will produce anything.
Now we wait and see if we get some stuff!
Something else... We volunteer at a food bank in our town called "Titus County Cares" once/twice a month...
We made our box garden 10x5, a little bigger than a square foot but still manageable...
Went to Lowes and got some seeds.
We planted summer squash, ocra, green beans, carrots, peas and onions.
We took line and marked off the different seed sections so we would know what was what! lolWe also got some herbs
and a tomato plant to put in my topsy turvy!

While we were there last Friday, I heard about a Community Garden that is going on at the College. The vegetables grown there go to the food bank to help the community. I just think that is SO cool!! I would LOVE to grow enough stuff on our garden to do the same thing. Such a great idea!

Snow!
After missing out on the snow last month, I was worried I may not get another chance at it this winter. But God is so good! We got snow last week. The weather folks said we might get a little, but we got about 5 inches! woo hoo!
Baby loves to go outside, she runs out every time the door opens.... kinda a pain, actually. So, I thought, SURELY it's too cold and she won't go out! ha! I was wrong!
We had to make a run to the post office. (plus, being silly Floridians, we just had to check out the icy roads!)
By the time we got to the post office, which was around 9:30am, there was already a snowman in the front!

He was so cool!!
Of course, we had to make our own! the snow on Friday was not packing very well,
we made the one with the red scarf then.
I wasn't very pleased with our 1st snowman (actually snowWOMAN, thanks to Fred!)
So on Saturday, I attempted it again. The snow was a little better to handle....
"Snowman Fred"
I thought he was quite cute!
Here is the view from our front door
the front view of our house... I think this is so pretty!
My first Snow Angel!
I think this is another pretty picture
Fred was not being very nice to me!
in spite of the snow, we had tons of birds in our backyard
This is a bird bath I made up, looks like a snow cake!
The birds know where the buffet is!
something else I think it's so beautiful, it's the icicles
I thought it would be fun to make an "Ice" bouquet!
